Vue De La Cote

Vue De La Cote is a heritage-listed residence originally designed by architect Frederick Glynn Gilling in 1932. The Spanish Mission house provided a wonderful backdrop for our landscaping and garden redesign.  It was imperative that the renovation maintained the original charm ensuring that some areas felt original, transitioning through to spaces where more significant changes were required. A number of the original walls were still intact and so these were retained. The entrance path was reconfigured for a more generous and comfortable arrival experience reusing salvaged stone on site.  A new swimming pool was a key part of our brief, and this was located in an area of the garden that was overrun with rambling plantings that were in poor health.  This allowed us to maximise the pool proportions to provide a better relationship with the scale of the building.  Areas of lawn were then improved by adjusting levels before the gardens themselves could be renovated to enhance some of the remnant trees and palms.
